Beech Scholarship Fund This scholarship is in honor of Dr. Bernard C. Watson, John C. Haas, F. Otto Haas, Floyd W. Alston, and Robert W. Smith. Annually, BCS awards a $1,000 scholarship to deserving, minority students of color. The scholarship will be awarded to qualifying and deserving high school seniors entering Temple University, Cheyney University, Lincoln University, or Community College of Philadelphia as a full-time freshman; or, be a current full-time student at one of the four colleges for the fall 2019 academic year.
Drexel Liberty Scholars Drexel provides 50 recent Philadelphia high school graduates with a renewable scholarship award that covers 100 percent of tuition and fees. Additionally, the program fosters student success through a dedicated faculty or staff mentor, a learning community in which all scholars live during their freshman year, extracurricular and developmental programming, and active engagement with campus life. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, reside in the Philadelphia city limits, and come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The scholarship is open to all freshman applicants in all majors as long as it is an on-campus, full-time, undergraduate program.
La Salle Christian Brothers Scholarship he Christian Brothers’ Scholarship, which covers tuition for up to four years of undergraduate study, is La Salle’s most prestigious scholarship. La Salle awards it to applicants who have extensive community service backgrounds and a demonstrated interest in future service. The emphasis on community service follows in the tradition the Christian Brothers established more than 300 years ago.
Maguire FoundationScholarships The Maguire Foundation provides last dollar scholarship support to up to five students in each institution’s incoming freshman class for four years of matriculation. Maguire Scholars are selected by their respective institutions, and must remain in good academic standing (3.0), be an active participant in school and/or community volunteer extra-curricular activities, and have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0 – $25,000. Penn State Millenium Scholars Program The Penn State Millennium Scholars Program supports a diverse group of undergraduate students striving to succeed in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Millennium Scholars are high-achieving STEM students who want to be leaders and increase diversity in their fields. Millennium Scholars receive financial, academic, and advising support, and are expected to work hard and study in a collaborative environment, conduct research, and maintain an excellent academic record, with the ultimate goal of obtaining a doctoral degree in a STEM field.
Villanova Presidential Scholarship It is a renewable, merit-based award covering full tuition, room, board, general fee, and the cost of textbooks for eight consecutive semesters. Representing diverse intellectual, social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds, Presidential Scholars are transformational leaders both on and off campus who have demonstrated a love of learning and a commitment to enhancing both their local and broader civic communities. In order to be considered for the Presidential Scholarship, students must first be nominated by the chief academic officer of their high school (principal, president, headmaster), secondary school counselor, or an official school designee.
Villanova University St. Martin de Porres Grants These are to serve the University’s goal of attracting a richly diverse and talented population of undergraduate students. St. Martin de Porres Grants are valued at full tuition and general fees. Grant recipients are from the greater Philadelphia area and are from the most underrepresented groups in undergraduate education, including (but not limited to) members of underrepresented racial and ethnic populations, students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and students from families in which few or no members have attended college. To be eligible for consideration, students must have exemplary high school records, correspondingly high SAT or ACT scores, leadership roles, and active involvement through service to the community. The greater Philadelphia area is defined as Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania; Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem Counties in New Jersey; and New Castle County in Delaware.
