Each year Bulldog Federal Credit Union makes the award to two students, one male and one female, who exhibit high scholastic achievement and character. High school seniors who have been accepted to an accredited college or technical school can apply for a $1000 Educational Scholarship.Applications are accepted January through April and winners are announced in early May. Applicants are ranked by: Grades, Financial need, School activities, Community involvement. Applicants must be members of the credit union with a grade point average of at least 3.0 at the time of application. The application must include an autobiography and most recent valid transcript.
Through the annualDepartment of Pennsylvania American Legion Essay scholarship contest, students are provided an opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities in English by using originality, accuracy and research as evidence, while learning that the responsibilities and duties of good citizenship can be both rewarding and fun.Any student enrolled in grades 9 through 12 in a public, private or parochial school or who is home schooled in Pennsylvania is eligible to participate.The Department of Pennsylvania State Essay First Place Winner will be awarded a $3500 scholarship, a plaque and a trip to this years PA American Legion Convention in July to read the winning essay to the assembled delegates.The Second Place Winner will receive a $3000 scholarship and a plaque. The Third Place Winner will receive a $2500 scholarship and a plaque.
TheHoratio Alger State Scholarships are awarded to eligible students in all fifty states and the District of Columbia. The program specifically assists high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The scholarships are funded by Horatio Alger Members who, like the Scholars, have experienced challenges but ultimately overcame them to become successful business and civic leaders.
The John D. Unangst Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors. Applicant or any member of the applicant’s family must be a member of the Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union (Pennsylvania).
Hermine Solt Student Scholarshipis funded by the PA Association of Educational Office Professionals (PAEOP). Criteria: Scholastic achievement and motivation for higher education; Qualities and traits of leadership, citizenship, and service to school and community; Financial need; Recommendations from business education department member and/or school counselor must accompany application; A career in Accounting, Business, Business Administration, Business Communications, Business Management, Business Communications, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, Computer/Technology, or Secretarial/Admin. Metzger Wickersham’s Scholarship Program encourages students to take a stand against dangerous driving. The Road to Safety Scholarship Contest provides high school seniors with the opportunity to submit a creative project about the dangers of drunk driving and/or distracted driving for the chance to win college scholarship money. The ultimate goal of the contest is to help spread the message to drive with safety in mind all the time! First place winners will receive a $1,000 scholarship, second place winners will receive $750 and third place winners will receive $500.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives Scholarshipis open to graduating high school seniors who are legal residents of Pennsylvania with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Applicant must be planning to attend a four-year college in Pennsylvania and demonstrate leadership and community service.
The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus (PLBC) has established a scholarship program to assist graduating high school students and current college students of color who plan to further their education through their matriculation at a Pennsylvania college/university. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students with their financial obligation and to foster a relationship between students and our membership. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university of the student’s choice located in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The PSECU offers six scholarships, each up to $8,000, to bank members graduating high school. Each recipient receives up to $2,000 per year for up to four years, providing scholarship requirements are met. Since the program began in 1997, more than 100 students have benefited, going on to graduate and begin careers in medicine, education, science, communications, and other disciplines. The program has awarded more than a half million dollars to students embarking on higher education.
Roothbert Fund Scholarships are open to incoming and current college students from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina. Scholarships are open to students in the United States regardless of sex, age, color, nationality or religious background, but it does seek to provide support to persons motivated by spiritual values. Finalists will be invited for a brief in-person interview usually in New York, New Haven, Philadelphia and Washington, DC (travel costs not paid for by organization).
